A closer look at the World Around Us
In this module pupils will be amazed as they take a close up look at objects from the world that surrounds them.
Using their digital microscopes pupils will find many surprises.
In this topic our pupils will be made aware of:-
Microscopes and telescopes have greatly increased our understanding of how things work.
Advances in our world today have been shaped by our ability see in greater detail.
Even at the smallest scale great detail exists –there is much to be seen.
It’s a wonderful world and with a closer look it’s even more amazing!
In their quest to discover more, pupils will use their digital microscope as their tool of discovery. Activities will include:-

Examining the ‘fabric ‘ of paper, cotton thread, denim etc
x 200 times

Examining and finding out how ballpoint pens work.

Finding out about colour and how colours are made on our digital screens.

Finding out about the true colours on a printed page.

Finding out the true shape of salt particles (we will form our own salt crystals)

By looking at onion skin we will find out about cells - the building block of all living things.
With the use of the digital microscope we allow our pupils to embark on their own personal discovery of the world that surrounds them.This module gives our pupils opportunities for discovery that did not exist a decade ago - opportunities that are certain to captivate and inspire the inquiring mind.
